4c - The Benesh Institute External Examinations Syllabus (Dance)

The Benesh Institute External Examinations Syllabus (Dance) is designed to allow students to study the notation as it applies to their chosen movement discipline: ballet or contemporary dance.

Two options are available for the Solo Examinations: Reading or Recording:

  • Reading Examinations comprise a written paper and a practical paper. The practical paper requires the candidate to read and then execute a maximum of 2 short sequences in the presence of the examiner. Successful candidates at Elementary Solo Reading (ballet or contemporary dance) are eligible to enter for the Intermediate Solo Reading Examination.
